Students enthusiastically shared World of Wonder presentations with peers. Having a smart board in the classroom this year makes a big difference. Students truly enjoyed learning from each other.

ECOLOGY Unit- Student created Explain IT to Me videos

Students created videos to present their research on non-native invasive species in Illinois. The ecology of organisms, effects on the environment and people were explored, as well as issues and trade-offs when controlling the spread of the invasive species.

The study of living blackworms brought excitement as students tested different materials and made observations of their behavior.

WASTE AUDIT

The excitement of weighing the garbage we generated from our classrooms was palpable and contagious. The students first sorted out garbage into wet waste, dry waste and recyclables.

Chicago Conservation Club-Students created signs and collected waste from different areas in the school to alert custodians of audit. It was so exciting to see them engaged and concerned about our environment.

How much garbage does our school generate everyday? Students calculated an average of 3 pounds of waste are produced in each classroom on a daily basis.WOW! Let's do something about it! Action Project on the making!
